Meet the artist: Giles Ward

Originally from Yorkshire, Giles studied art foundation at Sheffield before moving to the South West to study illustration and graphic Design at Exeter College of Art. Experimentation is at the heart of Giles’ painting. Working pre-dominantly in oils his canvases take on other-worldly textures with the addition of acrylics, pen, inks, varnishes and anything else he can lay his hands on. Read on to hear how he became an artist and where he gets his inspiration from.

Artist Alan Ferneuax is a neighbour to us Whistlefish lot, not that you would think that from meeting him - wearing his London baker boy cap and French inspired Breton top, Alan looks the part of an artist travelling around Europe, making himself at home in any given city. Luckily for us, home is Penzance, right here in Cornwall and Alan's happy demeanour is poured into his brilliantly bold artwork. Hannah Cole has been an artist with Whistlefish for over a decade now, she describes her work as calming with a sense of humour, which we couldn't agree with more. Living in Brighton and working from her loft-converted studio space, Hannah is inspired from her life by the sea. Whether is be a stroll along Brighton pier, to trips down to the South West coast or even Island holidays with her family, the lure of the sea is always there. Meet the artist: Will Thompson
Will has art in his veins after growing up with artist mum Lyn Thompson, founder of Whistlefish. He remembers her hand-painting cards on their kitchen table, later, he went along to craft fairs and trade shows to show his support. Today, whenever Will pops by Whistlefish Head Office, he's always full of energy and excitement, ready to share his passion for a book he's just read or a show he's just watched. This love for creation comes across in his work, whether it be a Cornwall coastal scene or a portrait of the late Robin Williams.
