Nicki makes a range of wheel thrown stoneware ceramics - mugs, jugs, bowls, vases and batter bowls, all of which are designed to be enjoyed in every day use. She hand paints the designs on the pots using vibrant coloured slips and underglazes. She also makes a range of small porcelain vessels which are glazed in delicate greens, greys, turquoises and blues inspired by the Cornish colour palette.
Nicki's childhood was spent on a farm on the Roseland where, as an eight year old, she attempted to throw her first pot on an old wind up gramophone using clay she'd dug up from the banks of the Fal estuary. It was unsuccessful as far as the pots and the gramophone were concerned!
Nowadays her studio is at home where she makes work which is sold in galleries, through exhibitions and in regular Open Studio events.
Nicki first met Lyn at a Made in Cornwall fair about thirty years ago where they were both exhibiting and selling their hand made crafts. A few years after that, Lyn asked Nicki to supply her first Whistlefish gallery in St.Ives.
Nicki subsequently made a range of vibrant red ceramics for the first Whistlefish gallery in Truro.
