Behind The Print - Harvest Blooms

As the summer draws to a close, the local flower patch has its final triumph of vibrant pinks, oranges and deep reds, set against the backdrop of just-rolled bales of hay. This was the inspiration behind this season’s key print; hand-painted watercolours adorn our UK-made textiles and stationery. 

We visited the lovely local growers at The Cornish Flower Patch to discover their gorgeous array of blooms. Chrysanthemum, Dahlia, Echinops, Helenium, Rudbeckia and Verbena were out in full force, creating an inspirational display of vivid colours against the wash of green meadows and full grey skies that thankfully didn't bear down on us. 

Sketching and painting each stem at a time gave the opportunity to study in detail the depth of colour in every flower and we knew that this collection needed to be as vibrant as the plants themselves. Back at the studio we used our sketches to create the final images in watercolour. We hope this collection gives you all the autumnal feels and inspires you to get out in nature, pick up a paintbrush and have some fun.
