There’s nothing quite like the scent of pine and the crisp air of a Cornish winter to bring out the Christmas spirit. This year, our Whistlefish artists didn’t have to travel far for inspiration. Just a short drive from Porthtowan Beach, we spent a day at Cambrose Christmas Tree Farm, surrounded by festive charm, a touch of mizzle and rows upon rows of beautiful evergreens. Amongst the trees, laughter and the gentle rustle of branches, we found the perfect setting to inspire our latest Christmas card designs.

A Festive Haven

Cambrose Christmas Tree Farm is a family-run gem that has been growing quality Christmas trees in Cornwall since 1994. Spread across twelve acres and home to over 8,000 trees, the farm feels like a scene straight out of a Christmas film. The moment you arrive, the scent of pine fills the air and a soft hush settles over the fields – the kind of peacefulness that makes you want to stay a little longer. Each tree stands proud, waiting to bring warmth and cheer to homes across Cornwall and beyond. It’s easy to see why so many local people return year after year to choose their perfect tree.

Sustainability at the Heart of Christmas

Choosing a tree from Cambrose isn’t just about festive decoration – it’s also about making a thoughtful choice. Every Cambrose Christmas tree is planted, nurtured and harvested by hand. For each tree sold, another is planted in its place, creating a continuous cycle of renewal. During their eight to ten years of growth, the trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Buying locally can also reduce the distance a tree travels while helping to keep Cornish traditions thriving.

A Haven for Wildlife

Beyond its beauty, Cambrose also provides a valuable habitat for wildlife. The plantation is rich with life, from deer, foxes and badgers to owls, herons, bees and other insects. Woodland copses and peaceful ponds have helped this natural habitat flourish over time. Even the smallest details matter: the farm uses oxy-biodegradable netting made from plant starch to wrap each tree. The netting is designed to break down completely and should be disposed of with normal household waste.

Whistlefish Christmas Card Inspiration

As we wandered through the trees, cameras in hand and cheeks flushed with the winter air, our creative team found endless inspiration for this year’s Whistlefish Christmas cards. From the play of light on pine needles to the sight of a robin darting between branches, every little detail captured the warmth of a countryside Christmas. Those woodland details brought a touch of Cornwall’s natural beauty to the creative process and reminded us of the joy of celebrating the season close to home.
