The Great British Birdwatch
At Whistlefish, our love for nature is at the very heart of everything we do. Whether it’s supporting Plant One Cornwall in restoring Celtic rainforests or featuring stunning wildlife in our artwork, the natural world inspires us daily. This year, we’re excited to join the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, and we encourage you to take part too. So, grab a cuppa, look out the window, and start spotting!

What is the Big Garden Birdwatch?
The Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey, inviting nature lovers from across the UK to come together and help monitor the well-being of our garden birds. By simply observing and counting the birds in your garden, on your balcony, or in your local park, you’ll be contributing to a vital snapshot of how bird populations are faring. It’s a fantastic way to connect with nature and make a real difference!

Let’s Make a Difference Together
Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or a curious beginner, the Big Garden Birdwatch is a brilliant way to connect with nature and contribute to its protection. Here at Whistlefish, we’re inspired by initiatives like this, and we hope you will be too. Let’s celebrate the beauty of our gardens and the wildlife within them, one bird at a time.

Even if you don’t spot many birds or none at all your input is incredibly valuable. Every count helps build a better picture of how garden birds are doing across the UK.
How to Take Part
It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3! Here’s how:
- Choose Your Spot - Count the birds you see in your garden, on your balcony, or at your local park for one hour between 24 and 26 January 2025. Keep a tally of the different species that land during this time.
- Count Carefully - Only count birds that land not those flying over. Record the highest number of each species you see at one time to avoid counting the same bird twice. For example, if you see eight starlings together at one point and six later, your count for starlings would be ‘eight.’
-
Submit Your Results - Share your results online at rspb.org.uk/birdwatch. It’s quick, easy, and helps the RSPB save on costs so they can spend more on protecting nature. Even if you don’t see any birds, reporting your findings still contributes to the bigger picture.
