At Whistlefish, we’re committed to making every part of our business as eco-friendly as possible, from the way we print our products to the sustainable materials we use in the process. By working with local printing companies dedicated to sustainability, we ensure that every card, wrap, and product we create reflects our values and commitment to protecting the planet.
Our trusted printing partners are constantly improving their efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and cutting waste. We use vegetable-based inks for our cards and wrapping paper, ensuring a more environmentally friendly printing process. Any leftover ink is repurposed as fuel in place of coal or gas, further reducing waste and reliance on fossil fuels. To further reduce waste, our printers operate a Zero Foil 2 Landfill scheme, turning foil waste into solid recovered fuel used in industrial heating.
We ensure that all foil finishes on our cards are 100% recyclable, so there’s no need to remove the foil before recycling. The foil layer is incredibly thin—less than 2.5 microns—allowing it to break down completely during the recycling process, making it just as eco-friendly as conventional inks. Additionally, we’re committed to reducing waste by making the most of every sheet of paper. During printing, we use the extra space on the edges to create gift tags, giving these materials a purposeful second life.
