Address
Located on Fairfax Street, just a minute’s walk from the River Dart, our Dartmouth Shop is a treasure trove of beautiful local artwork, unique gifts, and an extensive wall of greeting cards.
Our gallery has a special history—before becoming home to Whistlefish, the building was the renowned Harbour Bookshop, owned by Christopher Robin Milne, son of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne. He founded and ran the bookshop from 1951 until his retirement in 1983, making it a beloved part of Dartmouth’s literary past.
Dartmouth itself is a town steeped in history, surrounded by the stunning South Devon countryside. A deep-water port with a proud maritime past, Dartmouth played a role in the Crusades and was a stop for the Mayflower in 1620 before it voyaged to the New World. With its breath taking scenery and artistic heritage—including the inspiration for JMW Turner—Dartmouth remains a captivating place to explore.
