Our Art Gallery in Plymouth is located in the historic Barbican quarter on Southside Street.
Plymouth is sandwiched between the incredible South West coastline and the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park. The city is steeped in years of history, from Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada to the Mayflower sailing in 1620, to a city rebuilt following the Blitz during World War II. Plymouth is home to 263,100 (mid-2018 est.) people, making it the 30th-most populous built-up area in the United Kingdom and the second-largest city in the South West, after Bristol.
Visit the Barbican and Sutton Harbour for quaint cobbled streets, a picturesque harbour and wealth of independent shops and restaurants. Here you’ll also find the National Marine Aquarium – the UK’s largest with more than 4,000 animals and the perfect place to while away a rainy day. If you’re a fan of all things nautical, then be sure to make a trip to Plymouth Hoe. Not only is it the backdrop for Sir Francis Drake’s legendary game of bowls, but it’s also one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world.
