Cards with Care - Supporting Plant One Cornwall This Christmas

Our Blog Published on October 24, 2025

Christmas is a season of connection, kindness and giving back. At Whistlefish, what makes this time of year even more meaningful is knowing that every card you send plays a part in protecting the place we call home.

With your help, we’re proud to be supporting Plant One Cornwall, a local organisation restoring our woodlands and safeguarding the landscapes that inspire so much of what we create.

sending cards that give back

This Christmas, every Whistlefish card you send does more than carry your festive wishes. A percentage of our Christmas card sales, including our much-loved Christmas tree card designs, will help Plant One Cornwall plant and nurture new trees across Cornwall. Together, we’re supporting the restoration of habitats like the Celtic rainforest and protecting Cornwall’s green heritage.

It feels like the perfect partnership. We’ve always loved trees, and through your cards we’re able to give something back by planting, restoring and protecting the very landscapes that inspire our artists, our cards and our community.

When you choose Whistlefish this Christmas, you’re not only bringing joy to friends and family, you’re also helping to grow new woodlands and breathe life back into Cornwall’s rare rainforests.

who are Plant One Cornwall?

Plant One Cornwall are a community interest company with a clear mission: to create and restore woodland habitats across Cornwall. Every penny they receive goes straight into planting trees, encouraging natural regeneration and caring for existing woodland, helping Cornwall remain a thriving, green place for future generations.

Just as decorating a Christmas tree takes care and thought, Plant One Cornwall carefully assess each site before planting. By choosing the right trees for the right places, they give every new woodland the strongest chance to flourish.

their work in Cornwall

From ancient hedgerows to the rare Celtic rainforest, Plant One Cornwall work with landowners, businesses and local communities to restore Cornwall’s most precious habitats. They plant new trees, nurture the old, and create the conditions for nature to regenerate naturally. It’s not just about planting trees, it’s about creating landscapes that will thrive with wildlife and beauty for years to come.

the celtic rainforest

One of the most magical places they help protect is the Celtic rainforest, also known as the Atlantic oakwood. Found along the western coasts of Britain and Ireland, this rare habitat is home to ancient oaks, birch, hazel and ash, as well as carpets of mosses, lichens and ferns.

This damp, lush world is a place where plants grow on other plants, creating unique habitats for species found nowhere else. These rainforests are vital for storing carbon, reducing floods and supporting biodiversity, yet they are fragile and under threat. Protecting them means preserving both their natural beauty and their cultural importance.
