Thank you for helping us raise £13,000 for charity

Every year, we raise money for a range of charities with the sales of our Christmas cards – and we are overjoyed to announce that, with your support, our 2020 collection has raised an extraordinary £13,000!

This year, we chose to share the money amongst a number of charities who are very close to our hearts here at Whistlefish.

Rocky, our office companion who came from the National Animal Welfare Trust Cornwall Centre

The National Animal Welfare Trust is a national charity that takes in animals who are in need of a new home and matches them with their new owners. In fact, our very own office companion Rocky (pictured) came from their rescue centre a few years ago.

The Prince's TrustThe Prince’s Trust has helped over 86,000 young people to start their own business – with its Enterprise programme for 18 to 30-year-olds living in the UK to help turn big ideas into a reality. This is exactly the programme that our founder Lyn Thompson used to help turn Whistlefish into a reality nearly 25 years ago, so it's great to see the positive impact of the charity in action.

The Clydesdale Horse Society

The Clydesdale Horse Society protect the maintain the purity of the breed and promote the Clydesdale Horse. The popularity of the breed has continued to grow over the last few years, but the breed is still very much at risk. The owner of Whistlefish, Lyn is proud to have Clydesdale Horses as part of her family.

The Shire Horse Society

For over 100 years, The Shire Horse Society have been committed to the conservation and development of the breed. The breeding and use of these gentle giants is being actively encouraged throughout the country.

Lyn Thompson, Owner and Managing Director of Whistlefish said: “All these charities personally mean a great deal to us here at Whistlefish, and we are over the moon that with the help of our customers we’ve been able to raise such an extraordinary amount of money.

“During these challenging times, it’s so important to continue assisting causes which make a difference, such as these. Thank you for your support.”

Ian Roy, Secretary of The Clydesdale Horse Society said “The remarkable amount of money raised through the sales of these Christmas Cards will help support the society’s objectives to promote, preserve and protect these beautiful horses. We are extremely grateful for the unwavering support that Whistlefish, and Lyn personally continue to give The Clydesdale Horse Society. There are now around 200 foals born each year, and this donation is directly helping us to ensure a positive future for the breed.”

The artists and their designs are unique and capture the majesty of our breed wonderfully. The kind donation from the cards ensures that we are able to continue our work to promote, preserve and protect the horse that put the Great into Britain.’’

Amy Hall, from the National Animal Welfare Trust’s Cornwall Centre said: “All of us here at the National Animal Welfare Trust, Cornwall would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Whistlefish for their incredible hard work raising this money for our centre through their charity cards.
