Charlotte's artwork features refined shapes arranged into subtle, ornamental patterns, exuding a sense of decorative flatness. Drawing inspiration from the spontaneous and direct nature of children's art, museum collections of ceramics, and the vibrant seasonal blooms in her garden and other gardens she explores, Charlotte's work merges these elements into beautifully crafted pieces of art.
Charlotte graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) in Printed Textile Design from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1999. She has sold in galleries nationally and has had her work published internationally. Her work is held in a museum collection and is collected across the world.
She has worked with Anthropologie, Penguin Books, Waitrose Food Illustrated Magazine and Nina Campbell. Charlotte has been the artist in residence at The Affordable Art Fair and runs workshops at the V&A Museum in London.
"I have a fascination with patterns, interpreting it in a playful and illustrative way. I love drawing from observation with energy and expression." The overall compositions however have a sense of space, stillness and simplicity. This contrast of abundance and yet a pared-back narrative is a constant theme in her still-life compositions and floral arrangements.
