Christine grew up just down the road from our first ever gallery in St Ives and has been immersed in the wild and raw environment of the Cornish countryside from a young age.
Being largely self-taught, Christine has drawn and painted all fo her life. She enjoys how art allows her to express without words, as a universal language. Over the years Christine has focused on painting my local environment, the Cornish coast.
Christine likes to use brushes, building texture with palette knives and any other tool to conceal/reveal areas, producing emotional, spontaneous and dramatic paintings.
The coastline is a powerful and continual inspiration to Christine and she finds it fascinating how the natural elements interact together and the changeable relationship between land and sea. She strives to capture the intensity of fleeting light/colour and the dynamic energy of the weather and ocean. The process of painting naturally reveals the underlying emotion and creates atmosphere, inviting the viewer to resonate and share her experience.
