Whistlefish artists visit Cambrose Christmas Tree Farm

There’s nothing quite like the scent of pine and a crisp winter breeze to bring out the Christmas spirit. This year, our Whistlefish artists found inspiration just down the road at Cambrose Christmas Tree Farm near Porthtowan Beach. Surrounded by festive charm and a bit of Cornish mizzle, they immersed themselves in the beauty of the season to create our latest Christmas card designs. A Festive Haven

Cambrose Christmas Tree Farm is a small, family-run business that has been growing quality Christmas trees in Cornwall since 1994. Their 12-acre farm is home to over 8,000 trees, making it a true festive haven. The moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a scene from a Christmas film. Rows of lush, green trees stretched out before us, each one ready to bring joy to someone’s home. The gentle rustling of branches and the scent of fresh pine set the perfect backdrop for our creative day.

A Sustainable Christmas

Choosing a tree from Cambrose means so much more than bringing home festive cheer. Buying local has its benefits: no lengthy transport, no imports, no storage, and no stale trees. Every tree is grown as a sustainable crop, planted by hand, and harvested in rotation. For each tree sold, a new one is planted in its place. Over their 8 to 10 years on the farm, these trees work hard to absorb carbon dioxide and give us oxygen, making it a win-win for both Christmas and the environment.

A Natural Haven

What makes Cambrose truly special is the care they’ve taken to create a natural haven. The plantation provides a relatively undisturbed habitat for wildlife, which has flourished over the years. Woodland copses and ponds teem with life, attracting deer, foxes, badgers, bees, grasshoppers, and a range of birds, including hawks, owls, and herons. The farm’s commitment to the environment shows in every detail, right down to the oxy-biodegradable netting used to wrap the trees, made from plant starch that breaks down completely.

Festive Inspiration

We left Cambrose brimming with festive inspiration and ready to get our Christmas trees. The sight of wildlife all around inspired the charming details you’ll see on our Christmas cards. Each design captures the warmth and joy of a cosy countryside Christmas, bringing to life the simple pleasures that make this time of year so special. Taking photos amongst the trees made us all look out for our favourites.
