Cornwall Air Ambulance - Christmas Charity Partner

Earlier this winter we met the team at Cornwall Air Ambulance, who are one of the Whistlefish Christmas Charity partners this year, and got a look inside what an amazing service they provide for the residents and visitors here in Cornwall and the Scilly Isles.

When we met with with Julia she shared with us how the charity operates:

“I'm Julia Jeffery and I'm the corporate fundraiser at Cornwall Air Ambulance and get to work with amazing companies such as Whistlefish. Cornwall Air Ambulance provides critical care to the most seriously sick and injured patients right the way across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We fly 19 hours a day, 365 days a year on our AW169 helicopter with two rapid response vehicles.

We attend over a thousand missions a year, which is about three a day. No two days are ever the same, and we could literally have eight calls in one day, which is what we did in a very busy August this year. Teamwork runs throughout. The, the crew is very much work on a teamwork basis, and right the way through the charity, from ops to retail, fundraising to finance, is a whole operation that relies on the collaboration of all the departments coming together.

It's very humbling. We don't receive any government funding. And we have to raise over six million a year to keep the charity operational. So it's fantastic working with individuals, with businesses, hearing about all their fantastic fundraising opportunities that help us keep that service and providing the best critical care to the people across Cornwall in the Isles of Scilly.

So we'll be launching our Christmas campaign in November, where we'll once again be asking for the kind generosity of people throughout the county to kindly donate and help us save lives this Christmas.”
